Justin Stanton - Live Snarky Puppy Songs Compilation [MP3]

Enjoy some of Justin Stanton’s favorite live performances over the last few years.

Chonks (November 20th, 2019 @ Cenon Le Rocher de Palmer in Bordeaux, France)

Super lively version of Chonks featuring all three keyboardists in the lineup that night: Bobby, Shaun, and myself. Lotta energy in this performance.”

Semente (November 1st, 2019 @ TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, Netherlands)

Fantastic version that features Shaun out front playing solo piano. His intro sets the pace for the rest of the song, which clips along until things subside a bit for a really tasteful solo from Mike. A really memorable performance.”

Shofukan (June 3rd, 2019 @ Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada)

“Our first and only time in Vegas, but hopefully not our last. I’ve soloed on Shofukan hundreds of times, and it’s always fun to try to link up with the rhythm section in different ways. At certain points, I felt like Bobby was reading my mind!”

Embossed (July 9th, 2019 @ Istanbul Jazz Festival in Istanbul, Turkey)

I love the sound of this recording. The band is getting after it - horns, solos, drums and percussion. Everything is firing on all cylinders!”

Kite (May 19th, 2017 @ Le Cooperative de Mai in Clermont - Ferrand, France

“Like the solo section in Shofukan, the last solo section in Kite is based on two chords. On this particular night, I felt like we stepped into some different territory as a band. You can really hear how ideas can catch fire in the band - especially if you’re familiar with the tune. To me, these are the most exciting moments, and I think they’re what we’re always chasing.”

While We’re Young (November 30th, 2019 @ Löwensaal in Nuremberg, Germany)

"This was from the last show of 2019 for Snarky Puppy. It was a massive year of touring for us, and, while we knew our schedule was going to be lighter in 2020, none of us realized at that point just how light it was going to end up being. So, other than the GroundUP Music Festival in February, this is really the last time we played a proper concert of our own. This song, While We’re Young, is one of my favorites to play. Bobby’s playing of the first part of the tune is a how-to in melodic phrasing, and McQueen plays a blistering solo, drawing on a myriad of influences and distilling them into a unified tour-de-force."
